How Do You Increase Your Trade Show Traffic?

Questions we get a lot of the time is How do I increase my trade show traffic?

This is simple.  You need to get engaged!  Seriously!  One of the most common complaints is not enough people stop by our booth.  You are in control.  Working a trade show is more than just showing up or sending people to the show.

Attracting people is a planned process with a pro-active approach.  Attendees on a 2-1/2 day show will be on the floor for less than 8 hours.  They will visit only 51 booths.  Some of these visits will be to their friends and current vendors.

The attendees must have you on their “MUST SEE” list.  When they do stop by your booth they want to be engaged professionally, qualified quickly and find common ground.  This task normally will not last more than 5 minuets.

Engaging should be a welcoming process.  A good way to start is to ask dialogue type questions that cannot be answered with a yes or no.  Often the staffers look bored and they will not talk to visitors.  This is your opportunity to put your best people on the front line.  Take your competition at their weakest point.

It is important to avoid an overly aggressive staff.  Just remember this is your opportunity to begin a whole new business relationship, which could be very profitable.

Last but not least, you need the attendees to remember you.  If the attendee leaves with ideas, ideas that you or someone on your staff suggested, the attendees and yourself wins.  When your sales staff begin the follow-ups, they will be perceived much better.

Today’s customers understand what is going on.  They know when you are trying to figure out how to sell them and when there is little or no interest in meeting their needs.
